Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Oak Ridge National Laboratory has immediate openings for three postdoctoral
research positions in the area of advanced computer simulations for the
design of neutron scattering instrumentation. Selected individuals will be
working with Dr. J. L. Robertson of the Solid State Division and Dr. X.-L.
Wang of the Metals and Ceramics Division to develop computational tools for
simulating neutron scattering instrumentation. These tools are intended to
aid in the design and optimization of new and existing instruments. The
research will also involve performing controlled experiments to verify the
simulation results.

To be considered, each applicant must have earned a Doctorate in an
appropriate field such as Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Sciences within
the last three years. Demonstrated experience with neutron or X-ray
scattering techniques is required, as is a working knowledge of common
programming languages such as FORTRAN or C. Familiarity with object
oriented programming and parallel computing is preferred, but not required.

For consideration, submit a curriculum vitae (including research experience
and a list of publications) and three references, to: Dr. J. L. Robertson,
Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Building 7962, MS-6393, Oak Ridge, TN
37831-6393 (robertsonjl at ornl.gov). Oak Ridge National Laboratory is an
equal opportunity employer committed to building and maintaining a diverse
workforce.
