Faculty Position Announcement

Director, Nuclear Reactor Program
Department of Nuclear Engineering
North Carolina State University

The Nuclear Reactor Program of the Department of Nuclear Engineering seeks
qualified applicants for the position of Director.  This is a combined
administrative and faculty position.  The successful candidate is expected
to have credentials to qualify for a tenure track or tenured position at
the rank of Associate or Full Professor of Nuclear Engineering.  The
Director is responsible for the long-range development of the nuclear
reactor program and for providing leadership in evaluating new service and
research applications for the one megawatt PULSTAR reactor, in generating
support for needed capital investment and facility development, and in
interfacing with researchers. Supporting staff manage the day-to-day
operation of the facility.  Faculty duties include teaching undergraduate
and graduate courses, and developing and conducting sponsored research.  A
PhD degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related field with a minimum of
eight years of relevant experience is required.  Preference will be given
to an individual with demonstrated experience in experimental neutron
science, reactor physics, or radiation applications utilizing a research
reactor.  The department offers BS, MS, MNE, and PhD degrees with a faculty
of 12 having research interests spanning radiation applications,
radiological engineering, fusion and applied plasma physics, and fission
