Research Fellowships (x2) for the FaME project at ILL/ESRF, France

Two 3-year fixed term Research Fellowships, based at ILL/ESRF, Grenoble,
France, for the FaME project are available now.

FaME is a £3.3M (5M Euros) joint project funded by EPSRC(UK) (supported by
ILL/ESRF) involving seven UK academic institutions, led by the University
of Salford.  Its principal objective is to found a joint Support Facility
for Materials Engineering (FaME) at the joint neutron/synchrotron X-ray
ILL/ESRF site in Grenoble, France.  

Two excellent opportunities are available for post-doctoral candidates with
backgrounds in Engineering, Physical or Computational Science.  The posts
are each three-year appointments with the post-holders being employed by
the University of Salford but based at the ILL/ESRF, Grenoble.  The
successful applicants will focus on the experimental application and
development of both neutron and synchrotron X-ray techniques to Materials
Engineering, in particular the determination of residual stress fields in
engineering components.  They will be responsible for hardware and software
developments and will assist visiting research and industrial engineers to
prepare experiments and to obtain and to evaluate neutron and synchrotron
X-ray diffraction data.  They will work in close collaboration with ILL and
ESRF instrument scientists attached to the project.  An early start date is
preferred.
