DIVISION DIRECTOR - APS OPERATIONS DIVISION
Argonne National Laboratory

Argonne National Laboratory, one of the nation's premier research and
development organizations, is inviting applicants for the position of
Division Director, Advanced Photon Source (APS) Operations Division.
The Advanced Photon Source is a 3rd generation synchrotron radiation user
facility funded by the Department of Energy. The Division Director
provides both leadership and management for the scientific, engineering,
and support staff within the Division to effectively direct the operational
activities related to the APS. He/She also coordinates activities related to
accelerator maintenance and/or improvements in operations with other APS
divisions and APS users, oversees coordination of all APS conventional
facility
improvements, and directs the User Administration Office. This position
requires considerable knowledge of the operations of state-of-the-art
scientific
research facilities; knowledge of accelerator technology; and skill in
developing creative solutions to complex scientific and user management
problems. The successful candidate will have considerable experience in
management and/or technical leadership of neutron or synchrotron radiation
user facilities or other large-scale highly technical research facilities.
Argonne National Laboratory is a multi-program laboratory operated by the
University of Chicago for the U. S. Department of Energy. Argonne's
Illinois site is located about 25 miles southwest of Chicago on a beautiful
1500-acre campus-like environment.
