Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Available now
University of Virginia, Department of Physics, 382 McCormick Road,
Charlottesville, VA 22904, USA.

The department of Physics at the University of Virginia invites
applications for a postdoctoral research position in the area of neutron
scattering. The materials to be studied include, but not restricted to,
the newly discovered bulk metallic glasses based on aluminum and iron. The
successful candidate will carry out neutron scattering experiments at
national user facilities in addition to performing modeling of the local
atomic structure to investigate liquid-glass transitions, microstructural
distortions, and structure-mechanical property relationships. Applicants
with a strong background in neutron or x-ray scattering are particularly
encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a PhD in Physics or Materials
Science. Applications should be sent to Prof. Despina Louca at
louca at virginia.edu and must include a resume, list of publications along
with a brief statement of research interest and 2-3 names of references.
