Two Job Opportunities at ISIS:

USER PROGRAMME MANAGER
NMI3 PROJECT MANAGER

ISIS Facility, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Oxfordshire


The ISIS Pulsed Neutron Facility is a world leading research centre for
condensed matter studies with a strong scientific user programme and
extensive international links. ISIS is based at the Council for the Central
Laboratory of the Research Councils (CCLRC) in Oxfordshire, UK.

User Programme Manager  (VN2485)
At ISIS over 700 experiments are carried out every year by 1500 users from
all over the world. As User Programme Manager you will have overall
responsibility for the management of the user programme.  You will oversee
the work of the ISIS User Office, report regularly on the programme and
manage the access process. This is a challenging role, dealing with many
different groups of people and a wide range of matters. 

Applicants should have a good B.Sc. (Hons) degree and demonstrated the
ability to manage.  They will need excellent interpersonal and communication
skills. Experience with databases is essential, as well as the ability to
take initiatives and to work independently. 

The salary range is between £26,190 and £39,800 (pay award pending) and a
non-contributory pension scheme is offered.

NMI3 Project Manager (VN2486)
The NMI3 project is a large EU funded project co-ordinated by ISIS.  NMI3
brings together 23 research organisations throughout Europe.  The project
has three aspects: enabling access to facilities for European scientists,
research projects to improve facilities and networking.

You will be responsible for managing the NMI3 project on a day-to-day basis,
working in a small team.  The job will involve liaison with and assistance
for the partners and the European Commission.  Organisation, interpersonal,
presentation and communication skills are important.  As the project
progresses outreach activities (e.g. Science and Society) will become a
larger part of the job.  Some travel within Europe will be required.

Applicants should hold a good B.Sc. (Hons) degree, or equivalent
qualification in an appropriate science subject.  Experience in research and
an interest in the public understanding of science would be beneficial.

This is a fixed term appointment for 54 months. The salary range is between
£20,630 and £32,740 (pay award pending) and a non-contributory pension
scheme is offered.
