Type of grant
Category 20
Description of the subject
The scope of the work comprises experimental and/or theoretical research on
residual stress and microstructure, including defects investigations in
welded components relevant to nuclear safety. Experimental work will be
based on neutron diffraction and small angle neutron scattering using the
HFR neutron beam facilities in Petten. Theoretical work will be based on the
development and application of advanced numerical models for the assessment
of multi-pass welding residual stresses. Successful candidates must hold a
University degree, in Engineering or Natural Sciences and have some
background in diffraction methods and/or numerical techniques (FEM).
