Lectureship in Nanoscience and Materials at the University of Reading

Reading is located in the UK about 30 minutes form ISIS the pulsed
neutron source. Applications from researchers who would use the neutron
scattering facility (second target station imminent) and the new UK
synchrotron source Diamond which is located on the same site are
particuloarly welcomed. If you need any more information please email me

Full-time, Permanent

Nanoscience and Materials is one of the major research themes in the
Department of Physics and forms an integral part of the University’s
overall strategy for an expanding cross-disciplinary programme covering
the physical, chemical, biological and health sciences. The Department
has recently received major investment in both its undergraduate
laboratories and the research facilities housed within the building
(Wolfson Nanoscience Laboratory, Centre for Advanced Microscopy,
Ultrafast Laser Laboratory). Research on nanomaterials focuses on Soft
Condensed Matter including Polymers, Nanostructured Surfaces and
Clusters, and the Physics/Biology interface. The University has strong
links with both the ISIS neutron facility and Diamond, the UK’s new
synchrotron source, which are located some 30 minutes from the campus.

We are seeking to appoint a lecturer with a proven scientific ability
and a strong drive to develop their own independent research programme
in Nanoscience and Materials. We welcome applications from those with
research experience that complements our existing activity or involves
the broader interface between the physical and life sciences.

Further information about the Department can be found on the web site:
www.reading.ac.uk/physics, and informal enquiries are encouraged (Prof
John Blackman, Head of Department: (0118) 378 8537 or
j.a.blackman at reading.ac.uk).

Application forms and further particulars are available from the
Personnel Office, The University of Reading, Whiteknights, PO Box 217,
Reading RG6 6AH, telephone (0118) 378 6771 (voicemail). Application
forms and further particulars are also available from
