QENS Instrument Scientist

The Intense Pulsed Neutron Source (IPNS) at Argonne National Laboratory
invites applications for the position of Instrument Scientist for the
Quasi-Elastic Neutron Scattering (QENS) instrument. The IPNS QENS
instrument is an inverse geometry spectrometer which is primarily used
for investigations of low energy chemical vibration spectroscopy and the
diffusive motion of atoms and molecules. If you are the successful
candidate, you will be expected to manage the active user program on
QENS in addition to developing a research program based on your own
scientific interests which utilizes Argonne user facilities (IPNS,
Advanced Photon Source, Center for Nanoscale Materials, Electron
Microscopy Center). In addition to experience in inelastic neutron
scattering data collection and analysis, preference will be given to
candidates with expertise in synchrotron x-ray scattering and in
computational theory and simulation techniques. A research program that
will also include the use of instruments at the Spallation Neutron
Source (SNS) is highly desirable. For additional information, visit the
IPNS web site: http://www.pns.anl.gov/ <http://www.pns.anl.gov/> .

Interested candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in chemistry, physics
or a related field. Please submit your application with your CV, a
statement of your research interests and the names of three references
to A. J. Schultz (ajschultz at anl.gov <mailto:ajschultz at anl.gov> ).

Argonne is an equal opportunity employer, and we value diversity in our
workforce.
