POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of
Missouri-Columbia and the Missouri University Research Reactor (MURR) are
seeking to fill a position at the postdoctoral level. The initial
appointment will be for one year with the possibility of yearly extensions.
MURR is the most powerful neutron source at a U.S. university; and
it operates four neutron scattering instruments consisting of a triple-axis
spectrometer, a reflectometer, and two diffractometers. The successful
candidate will have a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, or biology. S/he will
have the opportunity to carry out research in soft and/or hard condensed
matter in collaboration with members of the neutron scattering group in the
Physics Department. In addition, the candidate will be closely involved in
the day-to-day running of all neutron experiments by acting as a liaison
between the Physics Department and its graduate students at MURR.
The scope of neutron scattering related research ranges from magnetism
(Wouter Montfrooij, Owen Vajk) to soft-matter and biology (Maikel
Rheinstädter, David Worcester) and surface science (Haskell Taub, Paul
Miceli).
The University of Missouri-Columbia is an equal opportunity employer
committed to workforce diversity. The starting salary is approximately $40K
plus benefits.
