Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in the Dynamics of Magnetic Nanoparticles

Oak Ridge National Laboratory has an immediate opening for a post-doctoral research associate to study the dynamics of magnetic nanoparticles. Applications are sought from highly creative and motivated individuals who will join an interdisciplinary team studying magnetic nanoparticles in an integrated effort including synthesis, characterization, neutron scattering, and theoretical simulation. We are specifically interested in candidates with a recent Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science with interest in neutron scattering and nanoparticle synthesis. Experience with neutron and/or x-ray scattering experiments and knowledge of magnetism is advantageous, but not absolutely required. Responsibilities include conducting research on magnetic nanoparticles using inelastic neutron scattering as a primary research tool. Secondary goals include sample synthesis and characterization as well as numerical simulation. Strong written and oral communication skills and
the desire to work in a team environment on scientifically challenging problems are required. The successful candidate will conduct independent research at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and make use of the Spallation Neutron Source, the High Flux Isotope Reactor and other neutron scattering facilities around the world.
