Dear colleagues,

We would like to inform you about two events that focus on the use and
the future of Total scattering and Pair Distribution Function using
neutrons organized concurrently with the ICNS meeting in Knoxville, TN,
on Sunday May 3rd (Link:
http://www.mrs.org/s_mrs/sec.asp?CID=18023&DID=231750).

1- "*Tutorial on the Use of Pair Distribution Function in Neutron
Scattering*": Sunday May 3rd from 9 am-12 noon at room 301 DE
(Convention Center- 3rd floor)

2- "*Shaping the future of Pair Distribution Function Studies at the
Lujan Center:* *High throughput and extreme conditions PDF" *Sunday May
3rd from 2 pm-5pm at room 301 DE (Convention Center- 3rd floor). With
the upcoming Lujan Center Enhancement project materializing, we would
like to gather stakeholders in the world of neutron Total Scattering and
powder diffraction to discuss the path forward for the refurbishment and
upgrade of two instruments at the Lujan Center (HIPD, NPDF). This
satellite session intends to focus on /*what are the community needs in
the field of neutron PDF*/ and what is the /*path forward */in the next
five, ten and 20 years. An Instrument Advisory team will be formed and
a report will be elaborated with the ideas from this session. Slots will
be available during the first two hours for short presentations from the
attendants. Please contact organizers if you want to attend and/or make
a presentation.

If you are interested in attending any of these events please contact
Anna Llobet (allobet at lanl.gov) or Thomas Proffen (tproffen at lanl.gov).
/Do not miss out on the opportunity to be part of the Lujan Center's
future./

Best wishes and we are looking forward to seeing you in Knoxville.

Anna Llobet - HIPD instrument scientist
Thomas Proffen - NPDF instrument scientist
