Project Engineer / Group Leader
* Competitive salary package
* Leading edge Research
ANSTO is one of Australia's foremost scientific research and development
organisations, focused on delivering the benefits of nuclear science to
the Australian community.
Based in Sydney, we have recently commenced operation of the new 20 MW
OPAL Reactor along with its initial suite of 9 instruments, and have
built up our team of scientists at the Bragg Institute to the point that
we are the leading group of neutron scatterers in the Southern
Hemisphere.
Following the Australian Government's recent announcement of $37M in
extra capital funding for a second wave of guides and instruments at the
OPAL reactor, we are seeking a project engineer / group leader to lead a
core team supporting the design procurement, installation, commissioning
and operation of two new state-of-the art neutron guides, three neutron
beam instruments and a set of magnets and cryogenic apparatus. This is
in addition to an existing portfolio of $20M in major projects, at
various stages of completion.
Successful candidates will be expected to participate fully in the
management of the Institute, and to play a leading role in creating a
healthy work culture in the group, in addition to managing relationships
with operational and research activities in their Institute and with
external stakeholders.
Successful candidates will have a degree in engineering, physics,
computer science or a related field, extensive project management
experience and leadership experience in managing high-performance teams
of people. Experience at major neutron-scattering or x-ray synchrotron
or other research intensive facilities will be an asset.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants will require a security and
medical assessment and must be Australian citizens.
