[Neutron] Open Position at LNS/PSI Switzerland: Scientist in Neutron Spectroscopy

SINQ sinq at psi.ch
Thu Mar 3 16:58:05 CET 2011

The Laboratory for Neutron Scattering (LNS) at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI, Villigen, Switzerland) is responsible for the operation and development of instrumentation at the spallation neutron source SINQ. The members of the LNS conduct a strong in-house research program with special emphases on strongly correlated electron systems, magnetism, superconductivity, material science and soft condensed matter.

For the spectroscopy group at LNS we are looking for a

Scientist in Neutron Spectroscopy

Your tasks:
You will support the external user program and will be actively involved in the technical development of the instruments. Depending on your research interests and experience, you will be co-responsible for a triple-axis (RITA-2) and/or time-of-flight (FOCUS, MARS) spectrometer at SINQ. You will pursue an independent and ambitious research program preferably in the fields of strongly correlated electron systems, magnetism, and/or superconductivity.

Your profile:
The successful candidate holds a PhD in experimental physics or chemistry and has an excellent scientific record. Experience in both triple-axis and time-of-flight spectroscopy is advantageous, but not mandatory. You have good communication skills and enjoy working in a team-oriented interdisciplinary environment.
