The Laboratory for Neutron Scattering (LNS) at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI, Villigen, Switzerland) is responsible for the operation and development of instrumentation at the spallation neutron source SINQ. The members of the LNS conduct a strong in-house research program with special emphasis on strongly correlated electron systems, magnetism, superconductivity, material science and soft condensed matter.
For the spectroscopy group at LNS we are looking for a
Postdoctoral Fellow
Neutron Scattering Studies of Novel Materials
Your tasks:
You will conduct research projects on quantum materials with novel electronic and magnetic properties, in collaboration with existing in-house research activities at the LNS and instructed by Christian Rüegg. As part of this 3-year postdoctoral position, you will support the external user program at SINQ on the triple-axis spectrometer RITA-II (Maximum 30% of your time).
Your profile:
You hold a PhD in experimental physics and have experience in neutron scattering studies of quantum/frustrated magnets or strongly correlated electron systems. Know-how in low-temperature, high-field or high-pressure instrumentation is desirable. You have good communication and organisation skills and enjoy working with students in a team-oriented interdisciplinary environment.
