[Neutron] Instrument Scientist and Postdoctoral Fellowship at IFE, Norway

Physics Department, Institute for Energy Technology (IFE); Kjeller, Norway and The European Spallation Source (ESS), Lund, Sweden have vacancies for:

An Instrument Scientist and a Postdoctoral Fellowship

IFE and ESS will share two positions as an Instrument Scientist and a Postdoctoral Fellow, but both positions will be located at IFE. 

Main tasks:
The persons being employed will be involved in:
. Specification, installation and operation of up to three different beamlines in the JEEP II reactor for development of techniques and/or instrumentation relevant to ESS. In particular there will be activities related to detector development.
. Assist in operating neutron instruments at JEEP II in connection with visitors from ESS
. Assist in arranging neutron scattering courses.

Qualifications:
Candidates are expected to have a PhD or similar in materials science or a closely related field. Experimental experience with techniques involving neutron scattering are desired.
The evaluation of candidates will be based on scientific qualifications and ability to communicate efficiently. Good knowledge of the English language is essential.

Location:
Physics Department at IFE, Kjeller.

Duration:
Instrument Scientist: permanent.
Postdoctoral fellow: 3 year, with possibility for extension.

Start date:
As soon as possible.
