      The Technical University Munich operates the high flux Neutron
      Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) located at the scientific
      campus in Garching, Germany. The neutron source itself, its
      research instruments as well as the irradiation facilities provide
      unique possibilities for the scientific and industrial use of
      neutron beams.

Within the collaboration of the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum (MLZ) we 
operate jointly, together with the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, the 
small angle scattering instrument SANS-1. For the operation and further 
development, we invite applications (full time position 40.1 h/week) as

*Description of position*
Your task is the operation of the SANS-1 instrument and user support for 
external and internal researchers. You are involved in further 
development of the instrument and its scientific use and are part of the 
core instrument team as co-responsible instrument scientist. You 
collaborate closely with scientists and engineers from different groups 
and research areas. You pursue your own research topics related to 
soft-matter physics or biology based on the use of scattering 
techniques, especially on small angle neutron scattering.

*Qualification and Experience*
You have a degree in physics, chemistry, material science or related 
fields, ideally completed with a PhD / doctorate degree. You have 
knowledge and experience in the application of scattering techniques 
especially with neutrons or synchrotron radiation. You gained experience 
in the research of soft matter systems or questions related to biology. 
Persuasive communication skills and ability to work in a team in an 
international environment are mandatory. Good oral and written English 
skills are required, German language skills are an asset.

The appointment is initially limited; a prolongation is possible. The 
payment is based on the German pay scale TV-L. The Technical University
