Research Fellow

  *   RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia
  * In the Areas of Soft Matter, Scattering & Biological Physics
  *   2-Year Fixed-Term Position until July 2020
  * $83,786 Salary + Superannuation, Flexible Working Arrangements Available

The Role

You will conduct experimental research funded by the Australian Research Council Discovery project “Rational design of new synthetic antifreeze molecules for cryopreservation”. This exciting experimental program has a number of aspects which include: studying the interactions of cryoprotectants with membranes using Small Angle X-ray and Neutron Scattering (SAXS/SANS) and Neutron Membrane Diffraction, measurement of the permeability of biological cells, conducting cryopreservation trials and determining the thermal properties of solutions using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). The research fellow is expected to contribute significantly to several of these aspects, but the specific direction of the project will be determined by the background and expertise of the successful candidate.
