Fri Jul 5 13:20:40 CEST 2019
The Technical University Munich operates the high flux Neutron
Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) located at the scientific
campus in Garching, Germany. The neutron source itself, its
research instruments as well as the irradiation facilities provide
unique possibilities for the scientific and industrial use of
neutron beams.
For the development of imaging data evaluation software at the imaging
beam line ANTARES we invite applications (full time position 40.1
h/week) as
*Software Developer (m/f/d)*
The beam-line ANTARES is a high-resolution neutron imaging
instrument, located at the high flux neutron source Heinz
Maier-Leibnitz (FRM-II) in Garching, Germany. With one of the
highest neutron fluxes worldwide and its cold neutron spectrum,
ANTARES offers high sensitivity at short exposure times. Main
applications of ANTARES lie in computed tomography in the fields
of material science, battery research, magnetism and fuel cells.
Moreover, our highly motivated team plays an important role in
method development for neutron imaging.
*Description of position*
**
You will play a leading role in the software development for the
evaluation of neutron imaging data. A particular focus of your
work will be on GPU accelerated programming using the CUDA
framework to perform real-time data evaluation at high frame rates
on our GPU clusters. Further tasks will be the adaption and
development of algorithms for reconstruction and filtering of
computed tomography data and combination of multi-modal datasets
(e.g. combined X-ray and neutron CT scans).
*Qualification and Experience*
**
You have a degree in computer science, mathematics, physics,
chemistry, material science or related fields, ideally completed
with a PhD / doctorate degree. You must have a strong programming
background, preferably in C++ and Python. You have knowledge in
the field of image data processing. Experience with GPU
programming will be helpful. Good oral and written English skills
are required, German language skills are an asset.
The appointment is limited to 3 years. The payment is based on the
German pay scale TV-L. The Technical University Munich is an equal
opportunity employer. Therefore women are especially encouraged to
apply. Handicapped applicants having an equivalent experience will be
preferred.
Further information on the position is given byDr. Michael Schulz(phone

Applications will be reviewed after July 31th, 2019and are accepted
until the position is filled. Applicants should send a letter of
interest describing relevant experience including detailed curriculum
vitae by regular or electronic mail (merged to a pdf file) to:
