Dear colleagues,
thanks to all who have already submitted abstracts and registered - the extended abstract submission deadline for the Lipid Bilayers at ESS - BESS 2022 is tomorrow, Friday 8th of April, with registration being open until 28th of April. The meeting details and preliminary programme are available at: https://indico.linxs.lu.se/event/263/overview.
The conference will be held at the Scandic hotel in Lund 13-15 June and we hope to see many of you there!
Confirmed invited speakers:
Rumy Dimova, Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Potsdam, Germany: ”Remodeling of model membranes: to bud or not to bud”
Georg Pabst, Universität Graz, Austria ”Asymmetric Membranes - Structure, Dynamics and Interleaflet Coupling”
Michihiro Nagao, NIST, USA ”Hierarchical dynamics of lipid bilayers measured by quasielastic scattering techniques”
Gerhard Gröbner, Umeå University, Sweden ”Unravelling the molecular basis of Bcl-2 proteins functioning at membrane level”
Hanna Barriga, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden – "Understanding the role of structure and lipid composition in lipid nanocarriers using bulk and single particle analysis"
Sebastian Himbert, McMaster University, Canada – "Functional and Functionalized Red Blood Cell Membranes"
Susan Daniel, Cornell University, USA – "Regulation of the Coronavirus Fusion Peptide Interaction with the Host Membrane and its Impact on Viral Infectivity"
Samuli Ollila, University of Helsinki, Finland – "Data-driven analyses of lipid bilayer structure and dynamics from the NMRlipids Databank"

---------------
Since 2009, when a first user meeting was held at ISIS, Oxfordshire, UK, scientists working with model membranes by using neutron and X-ray scattering and complementary methods have met to discuss emerging scientific challenges. The last two workshops were held at the ILL, Grenoble, France, in 2011 and 2019 and were called "Bilayers at the ILL - BILL". The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers working on the physico-chemical characterisation (including structure and dynamics) of lipid bilayers by both experimental and theoretical approaches.
organising committee:
