Two open positions in neutron spectroscopy at Jülich Centre for Neutron Science (JCNS)
1. Staff Scientist / Postdoc - Neutron Spectroscopy for Energy Materials: https://www.fz-juelich.de/en/careers/jobs/2024-126; The position is initially for a fixed term of 2 years, with possible long-term prospects.
1. PhD Position - Adsorbate diffusion on catalyst surfaces via neutron scattering: https://www.fz-juelich.de/en/careers/jobs/2024D-045; The position is initially for a fixed term of 3 years.
Topic/Tasks: We aim to address the dynamic and electronic properties of energy materials employing neutron spectroscopy. Examples are the dynamics and diffusion of protons and lithium ions in fuel cells and batteries, or the binding states of adsorbate molecules on catalyst surfaces.
* Characterization of the dynamical and structural properties of energy materials using neutron spectroscopy supported by complementary experimental techniques or theoretical simulations
* Synthesis and physicochemical characterization of energy materials or their model systems
* Acquisition of third-party funded projects and direct responsibility for project content and implementation
* Participation in experiments as well as design and construction of instruments and/or sample environments with practical work at neutron sources
* Supervision of PhD, MSc and BSc students
* Presentation of research results at conferences and publication in peer-reviewed journals
* Representation of JCNS-3 in project meetings and on international conferences to foster our network
About JCNS: JCNS operates and develops neutron scattering instruments and methods, as well as advances science with neutrons. Further, JCNS is active in developing concepts for highly brilliance compact accelerator neutron sources (HBS) and develops / operates instruments for FRM-II/MLZ, ILL, and ESS.
About JCNS-3: The subdivision Neutron Analytics for Energy Research uses and develops a wide range of neutron and complementary X-ray methods to analyse complex energy technology systems in-situ and operando. More information: https://www.fz-juelich.de/en/jcns/jcns-3/ueber-uns
