  Group Leader Neutron Imaging (m/f/x)

*Technical University Munich* operates the high flux Neutron Source 
Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) located at the scientific campus in 
Garching, Germany. The neutron source itself, its research instruments 
as well as the irradiation facilities provide unique possibilities for 
the scientific and industrial use of neutron beams.

The Neutron Imaging Group at the FRM II operates two of the 
world-leading instruments ANTARES and NECTAR for radiography and 
tomography with neutrons and plays a key role in advancing 
methodological development in neutron imaging in general.

*We are looking for a full-time scientist (40 hours / week) to head the 
group as Group Leader Neutron Imaging (m/f/x)*


    Responsibilities

  * Management of the Neutron Imaging Group as one of the largest
    scientific working groups at FRM II

  * Responsibility for the operation of the instruments ANTARES and
    NECTAR as user instruments including all aspects such as planning,
    maintenance, further development, software development, sample
    environment, data analysis, etc.

  * Development and monitoring of plans for the future development of
    the instruments and advanced neutron imaging techniques, as well as
    planning of new instruments

  * Maintaining existing and establishing new collaborations in the
    university and international environment

  * Independent acquisition of third-party funding for the financing of
    scientific and instrumental projects

  * Supporting scientific and industrial users regarding the conduction
    of their experiments


    Qualification and Experience

  *
    You have a doctorate in a natural science field (physics,
    engineering or equivalent disciplines)

  *
    You have many years of professional experience and a proven
    scientific reputation in the field of imaging techniques (ideally
    with neutrons and at large-scale research facilities)

  *
    You have strong communication skills and are able to lead a team of
    highly motivated scientists and engineers, from students to
    experienced scientists, in a structured and positive atmosphere.

  *
    You have a proven track record of acquiring and coordinating major
    third-party funded projects

  *
    You present scientific results didactically confident and adapted to
    the audience at conferences, public lectures, as well as to
    scientific and industrial users
