[Neutron] ESS Diffraction Workshop for Early Science

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a satellite workshop of the ILL/ESS User Meeting focused on early science opportunities for neutron diffraction at the European Spallation Source (ESS), at the DREAM, HEIMDAL, MAGIC, and BEER instruments.

The workshop will take place in Lund, Sweden, on 17–18 November 2026. The workshop will include a few invited and contributed talks and poster sessions for discussions organized by the scientific themes.

Day 1 — 17 November

•     Introduction to the ESS diffraction instruments
•     General topics in single-crystal and powder diffraction
•     Energy and functional materials
•     In-situ and operando studies
•     Magnetism and quantum materials
•     Engineering applications

Day 2 — 18 November

•     ESS sample environment capabilities
•     Diffraction data processing pipelines
