[Neutron] MDANSE Workshop 2026 - hands-on school on simulating neutron spectra, 3–5 November, DTU Lyngby

Dear Colleagues,

Applications are open for the MDANSE Workshop 2026, a three-day hands-on school on the application of dynamical and vibrational properties to neutron scattering measurements. It takes place 3–5 November 2026 at ESS Data Management and Scientific Computing, DTU Lyngby, just outside Copenhagen.

The programme covers density functional theory, lattice dynamics and classical molecular dynamics, together with the ASE toolkit, all used to generate realistic simulated data including INS and QENS spectra. Most of the time is spent in tutorials: running the simulations, analysing the output, and tracing the full path from an initial structure to a calculated scattering intensity that can be set against experiment .

Who it is for: neutron scientists with a strong computational background, and computational scientists who want to engage more directly with neutron experiments. Early-career researchers, postdocs and graduate students are particularly welcome; the format is deliberately informal.

Practical details:

- Places are limited to 20, to keep the training hands-on.
- The fee is €200 and covers accommodation (3–6 November, walking distance from the venue), lunches, coffee breaks, and the workshop dinner. Travel and some evening meals are not included.
- Application deadline: Oct 1, 2026. Applicants will be notified shortly afterwards.
