Neutron imaging offers the ability to observe large heterogeneous
sample systems and to characterize the interplay of various
material phases on multiple length and time scales, while
benefitting from the unique capabilities of neutrons as a probe.
These enable to penetrate structural materials of devices while
providing high contrast for quantitative observations of critical
internal processes. State-of-the-art observations utilize
attenuation, elastic and inelastic scattering, diffraction and
polarisation to map density, crystallographic features,
nanostructure, magnetic fields, temperature, isotope distribution,
diffusion, chemical compounds and phase composition. Applications
today contribute to the development of emerging technologies in
the context of societal challenges such as industry 4.0,
power-to-X, circular economy and the Green Deal. <br>
