Currently there are three outstanding instruments: a triple axis, a polarized beam reflectometer, and a high-resolution powder diffractometer. There are plans to expand the neutron scattering capabilities. The university is also planning to build a new 20
MW research reactor,
NextGen MURR. Although the new reactor is motivated by MURR’s success in producing critical medical isotopes, the campus is keenly interested in developing a nationally significant guide hall for neutron scattering as part of the NextGen MURR project.
