A demonstration version of the ICSD for WWW Inorganic Crystal
Structure Database is available on http://www.ill.fr/dif/icsd
using a ~10% subset of the full database (over 40,000 references
to "all" inorganic crystal structures).
ICSD for WWW, intended as an easy-to-use interface to a local
'intranet' database, can be accessed from all types of computers,
can display high quality 3D drawings (VRML), calculate powder
patterns (Postscript), and export references (EndNote).
ICSD for WWW will be available as an option for future releases
of the full mainframe version of ICSD.
On a local 'intranet' server, searches are almost immediate. Over
the internet, the ILL demonstration server should be tried from
Europe early in the morning, and from America late in the day.
