Summary:
The Condensed Matter and Thermal Physics Group (MST-10) and the Manuel
Lujan Jr. Neutron Scattering Center (Lujan Center)
jointly are seeking a scientist to execute a world-class research program
using neutron-scattering techniques at the Lujan Center
and elsewhere to understand the coupling and competition among spin,
charge, and lattice degrees-of-freedom in correlated-electron materials.
The successful candidate will be an energetic, creative individual who can
contribute to existing programs and establish new and independent research
programs. The successful candidate will serve as scientific liaison between
MST-10 and the Lujan Center; collaborate effectively with MST-10 members on
scientific problems of mutual interest; interact effectively with the
broader community of condensed matter theorists and experimentalists within
and outside the Laboratory; and attract outstanding postdoctroral
researchers and/or graduate students.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to conceive and execute cutting-edge research using
neutron scattering, particularly inelastic techniques.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with collaborators. Demonstrated
record of exceptional scientific achievement as evidenced by refereed
journal publications in condensed matter physics and invitations to speak
at conferences and universities. Demonstrated leadership skills as
evidenced by the ability to organize and lead teams. Proven effective
interpersonal and communication skills. Publications and recommendations
must support the above requirements.

Desired Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Broad theoretical understanding of correlated-electron phenomena.
Demonstrated ability to model experimental results in the context of
theory. Familiarity and/or experience with spallation and reactor-based
neutron-scattering spectrometers. Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Education, Training, or Licensing:
Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, materials science or related field. Submit
