Scientist position
(fixed-term contract of three years)
The Hahn Meitner Institute Berlin invites applications for a scientist
position in the area of neutron scattering. The successful candidate
holds a PhD in physics, chemistry or crystallography and has a
strong research interest in solid state physics or chemistry, using
diffraction methods as the main tool. He/she will join an
international team of scientists doing research mainly in the field of
magnetism and giving scientific and technical support to external
users at the thermal neutron diffractometers of BENSC (cf.
http://www.hmi.de/bensc/instrumentation/instrumente/e6/e6.html).
The Hahn-Meitner-Institut is a German National Laboratory and a
member of the Hermann von Helmholtz Association of National
Research Centres. It is located in Berlin, the capital of Germany,
has about 850 employees and hosts the Berlin Neutron Scattering
Centre (BENSC, http://www.hmi.de/bensc/index_en.html), a user
facility open to scientists from all over the world. To probe the
structure and dynamics of solids and liquids, BENSC provides
scientists with state-of-the-art neutron scattering equipment.
The position is for three years with a salary ranging from 70.000 to
90.000 DEM (gross income per annum) depending on age and
