JUERGEN ECKERT -- SECOND LANSCE DIVISION DIRECTOR'S AWARD RECIPIENT

The LANSCE User Group Executive Committee is pleased to announce the 
selection of

    Juergen Eckert
    Lujan Center (currently at University of California-Santa Barbara)

as the 2nd LANSCE Director's Award for Scientific Excellence 
recipient.  The LANSCE Director's Award, established by Roger Pynn in 1999, 
recognizes the scientific excellence and leadership of a LANSCE staff 
scientist, either through their own research program or in collaboration 
with users.

Dr. Eckert will be presented with the prize ($2000 and a plaque) during the 
upcoming User Group Meeting, August 12-14.  He will also give a technical 
presentation based on his work.

The LUG Executive Committee received three excellent nominations.  This 
task is always very difficult, and we hope you will all be able to join us 
in congratulating Dr. Eckert at the upcoming user meeting.
