Second Postdoctoral Position in Materials Physics
Available Now
University of Virginia, Department of Physics, 382 McCormick Road,
Charlottesville, VA 22903, USA.
The department of Physics at the University of Virginia is advertising a
second postdoctoral research associate position in the area of
structural amorphous aluminum and iron based bulk metallic glasses (
http://www.phys.virginia.edu/metallic_glasses
<http://www.phys.virginia.edu/metallic_glasses/).%A0> /) .
<http://www.phys.virginia.edu/metallic_glasses/).%A0> The candidate
must have experience in the areas of neutron and/or x-ray scattering at
national or international facilities. The successful candidate will
lead a study to determine the atomistic structures of Fe and Al metallic
glasses, using the pair density function (PDF), the isotope differential
PDF and anomalous X-ray scattering techniques. Structural measurements
will include high temperature and pressure studies to investigate phase
transitions, microstructural distortions, and structure-mechanical
property relationships. Interested applicants should have a PhD in
Physics, Materials Science or in a related subject. Applications should
include a resume, list of publications and 2-3 names of references, and
sent to Dr Despina Louca, University of Virginia, Physics Department, P.
