Objectives: After a theoretical introduction to methods of neutron
scattering in condensed matter research, the main emphasis will be on
hands on experiments at various neutron scattering instruments at BENSC.
Triple Axis Spectroscopy
Powder Diffraction
Small Angle Scattering
Reflectometry
Time-of-flight Spectrometry
Neutron Spin Echo
Sample Environment (cryostats, furnaces, magnets)
Working language will be English.
Presentation: Prof. Ferenc Mezei
in collaboration with: H. Fritzsche, H.-A. Graf, Th. Krist, R.E.
Lechner, M. Meißner, C. Pappas, N. Stüßer, W. Treimer, A. Wiedenmann, etc.
Participants: Primarily students of physics or chemistry of German
universities (Vordiplom required)
A limited number of places has been reserved to students of physics or
chemistry at universities of member or associate countries of the
European Union, who hold a MS and young scientists, who are interested in
using neutron scattering methods.
Venue: Hahn-Meitner-Institut, Glienicker Str. 100, D-14109 Berlin, Germany
Deadline for registration: 31. December 2001 l
This tutorial is part of the curriculum of the Department of Physics of the
Technical University Berlin and a certificate will be issued.
