The KFKI Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics,
Budapest has an open position for a
Software engineer / physicist
The KFKI Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics,
an equal-opportunity employer, is a fundamental research
establishment of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The Nuclear
Solid State Physics Group of the Department of Nuclear Physics
is performing studies on thin films with Mossbauer
spectroscopy, synchrotron radiation, neutron scattering,
magnetization measurements, etc. The group has developed, in a
broad international collaboration, various programs for the
evaluation of the experimental data.
The position is on a contractual basis and has duration of up
to 3 years but not beyond February 2007. The starting date is
March 2004 (or later, according to mutual agreement).
Your tasks:
- Development and maintenance of a general scientific data
evaluation program system capable of simultaneous evaluation
of data measured with different experimental methods.
- Increasing the performance of the program system by
developing its graphical surface using up-to-date object-
oriented languages.
- Completing the program documentation.
- Co-operation with physicists developing the theoretical
subroutines of the program system and with users of the
program system.
Your profile:
- You are graduated with an MSc in mathematics, computer
sciences, physics or engineering, preferentially with some
years' experience in FORTRAN, Linux, object-oriented
programming and designing of program systems.
- You have a sovereign and flexible approach of problem
solving.
- You have an efficient and system-oriented way of thinking.
- You are willing to work in an international team and to
communicate (establishing a professional relationship with
both staff and guest scientists) as well as to work flexible
hours.
Your salary will be subject to the Public Servants' Law of
Hungary.
