You're invited to be part of one of Australia's foremost scientific research and development
organisations, focused on delivering the benefits of nuclear science to the Australian
community. Based in southern Sydney, our neutron scattering scientists are responsible
for the operation, research use, design, and development of a range of neutron beam
instruments.

We are seeking a scientist to lead the team to procure, install, commission and use a
state-of-the-art cold-neutron time-of-flight instrument, with polarisation-analysis option, at
Australia's Replacement Research Reactor, which will come on line in 2006. The budget
has been allocated, and some work on the conceptual design has been done.

You will be expected to conduct a high-quality research program, in collaboration with Australian universities, industry, other ANSTO divisions and overseas scientists. Possible areas can include chemistry, condensed-matter physics, magnetism and materials
science.
You will have a Ph.D. in condensed-matter physics, chemistry, materials science or a
related area, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to
work both independently and in teams. Experience at, or using, major neutron-scattering
or x-ray synchrotron facilities will be an asset.

More information on present and future neutron scattering activities at ANSTO can be
found on the Web at http://www.ansto.gov.au/ansto/bragg/index.html

If you want both career challenge and the best of the Australian lifestyle and feel you are
right for ANSTO, then send your details to bragg-recruit at ansto.gov.au - we look forward
to hearing from you. Your application should address the selection criteria and including a
C.V. and at least three professional referees
