Dear colleague:
The third running of the MECA SENS conference on Stress Evaluation by
Neutron and Synchrotron X-Ray Radiation will be held at the
<http://www.bishopslodge.com/>Bishop's Lodge Resort in Santa Fe, New Mexico
October 17-19, 2005. .
The aim of each MECA SENS conference is to bring together scientists from
the academic world and industry to address the field of stress measurement
using neutron and synchrotron X-ray Radiation. The first two conferences
were each attended by more than 100 scientists from within the engineering
diffraction community. Principle subject areas include residual stresses
due to processing and use, materials response to mechanical perturbations,
neutron and synchrotron instrumentation, etc. Linked to the conference
will also be business meetings of the IMI/ANSWER initiative and the VAMAS
TWA-20 effort to develop standards for synchrotron stress measurements.
The weather in New Mexico in October is typically brilliant and the venue,
Bishop's Lodge is very comfortable and located only a few minutes from the
historic Santa Fe Plaza.
Details of the conference can be viewed at the
<http://www.lansce.lanl.gov/mecasens2005/>conference web page
{http://www.lansce.lanl.gov/mecasens2005/}. Abstract submission is open
and the deadline is May 1, 2005. Please contact myself (dbrown at lanl.gov) or
the Conference Coordinator, Leilani Conradson (leilani at lanl.gov) with any
questions.
We look forward to your participation in the conference. Also, please
encourage your students, colleagues, and users to submit abstracts to this
conference! With your help we can build on the resounding successes of the
first two MECA SENS conferences in Reims, France and Manchester, England.
Thank you and lhope to seeing you in Santa Fe.
Best Regards,
Don Brown
