Following the successful workshop on “*Building a Network for Neutron
Scattering Education*” held in March 27-28, 2008 in Chantilly, VA,
organized by Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Indiana
in Bloomington, which was aimed at designing a road-map for a
comprehensive neutron scattering education program in the US, the
National Society of Black of Physicists (NSBP) and the National Society
of Hispanic Physicists (NSHP), are pleased to announce a thematic
scientific session on neutron scattering at their joint annual meeting**
in *Nashville, TN, from Feb 10-15, 2009*. The session, sponsored by Oak
Ridge National Laboratory, is scheduled for *Friday, 13, 2009* with the
theme "*Neutron scattering is a valuable technique that has relevance
across the science spectrum*". The aim is to increase awareness within
the diverse science community of physicists in the United States of the
potential applications of neutron scattering. Please join us in this
exciting scientific gathering. Full conference and registration details
can be found at: http://www.nsbp.org/conference/.
The list of confirmed speakers for the neutron scattering session are:
- Jaime Fernandez-Baca (ORNL)
- Jason Hodges (ORNL)

**The NSBP/NSHP annual conference is the largest gathering of African
American and Hispanic American physicists and physics students in the
world, with a 50+ participants comprised approximately of 50% graduate
students, 30% undergraduates, and 20% postdocs and faculty . The
conference thus offers recruiters unparalleled opportunities to interact
