Postdoctoral Fellowship-
New energy-related materials
2-year terms + possible 1 year extension
Salary range: A$66,451 (plus superannuation)

ANSTO is one of Australia's foremost scientific research and development
organisations, focused on delivering the benefits of nuclear science to
the Australian community.

A fellowship is available to study alternative energy systems and
materials using neutron scattering methods, in the area of hydrogen
research (including separation, storage, and use in fuel-cells) and
energy transport (including fuel cell and battery materials).

Applicants must have a background in physical-chemistry or materials
science. We seek an experimentalist to work across a variety of neutron
scattering instruments with many sample environments, including those
specially developed for this research. The experimental work will be
backed-up by advanced analysis, including modelling at the ab-initio
level, which will provide insights into the physics and chemistry of new
energy materials and systems. This work will form part of the existing
neutrons for the hydrogen economy research project, where first results
will be matched with modelling work already under way, and data
reduction and analysis will be undertaken in conjunction with external
collaborators. There will be real opportunities within this position to
contribute towards new materials that progress alternative energy
systems.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong innovation focus, good
communication skills and a proven publication record, as well as
experience and skills specific to the proposed research project. PhDs
must have been awarded within the last three years or be under
examination.

For further information contact Dr Vanessa Peterson -
vanessa.peterson at ansto.gov.au or Prof Don Kearley -
gordon.kearley at ansto.gov.au

To be eligible for appointment, applicants will require a security and
medical assessment.
