Postdoctoral Fellowship-
Neutron Reflectometry and Deuteration to Investigate Biomembranes
2-year terms + possible 1 year extension
Salary range: A$66,451 (plus superannuation)

ANSTO is one of Australia's foremost scientific research and development
organisations, focused on delivering the benefits of nuclear science to
the Australian community.

A soft-matter scientist, with experience in reflectometry and/or
small-angle scattering, is sought to conduct research on biomembrane
systems. The National Deuteration Facility's ability to produce
deuterated lipids, proteins and peptides offers the opportunity for a
sophisticated approach to using neutron scattering to further
understanding of the basis of membrane structure and behaviour, and how
peptides and proteins interact with membrane systems. Candidates who can
demonstrate strong success in an experimental approach to one or more of
these problems using neutrons will be favored.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong innovation focus, good
communication skills and a proven publication record, as well as
experience and skills specific to the proposed research project. PhDs
must have been awarded within the last three years or be under
examination.

For further information contact Dr. Peter Holden -
peter.holden at ansto.gov.au or Dr Mike James - mike.james at ansto.gov.au

To be eligible for appointment, applicants will require a security and
medical assessment.
