The Nuclear Physics Division (SPhN) of the French Atomic
Energy Commission (CEA) has an open position for a post
doctoral research fellow.
The post-doc will be based at Saclay near Paris and will
work mainly on measurements at the neutron time-of-flight
facilities n_TOF at CERN and GELINA at the IRMM, on the
analysis of measured data, and on detector development. The
interaction of neutrons with nuclei is studied from the meV
to MeV range using the time-of-flight technique. Results
have relevance in nuclear astrophysics, nuclear structure
and nuclear technology. Measurements are planned and
performed within international collaborations.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear
physics, preferably with experience in neutron beams or
nuclear spectroscopy techniques, and have good programming
skills.
The position is for one year, with a possible extension of a
second year. Applicants should send a CV, an accompanying
letter, and the names of two referees by e-mail to the
address given below. The deadline for applications is
October 30, 2009.
