Project Description:
The  Neutron Sciences Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a  postdoctoral researcher to conduct independent research using neutron  scattering as a primary tool and to support the neutron scattering user program  at the HFIR triple-axis spectrometers.

The major duties  associated with this position will be:

 *   Conduct independent scientific research using  neutron scattering. The areas or research may include, but are not limited to,  magnetism, strongly correlated electron systems, chemistry and materials  science.
 *   Assist  the NSSD Triple Axis instrument scientists in the operations of the triple-axis  spectrometers.
 *   Act,  together with other NSSD instrument scientists, as local contact for the  triple-axis spectrometers in the HFIR/SNS neutron scattering user program,  supports the neutron scattering program and develops links  with the neutron scattering user community.
 *   Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, health, and quality program  requirements including ISMS.
 *   Maintain a strong  commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of laboratory values and  ethics.

Qualifications:
Recent Ph.D. in any of the Physical Sciences. Strong background in hard  condensed matter physics as evidenced by an outstanding record of publications  in top peer-reviewed journals. Strong interpersonal, and written and oral  communication skills. Desire to work in a team environment on technically  challenging problems. Experience in inelastic neutron scattering is highly  desirable. Applicants cannot have  received the most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of  application appointment and must complete all degree requirements before  starting their appointment.
