HELMHOLTZ ZENTRUM BERLIN FÜR MATERIALIEN UND ENERGIE, BERLIN
Institut Methods and Instruments for Neutron Scattering
Postdoctoral Position
Reference No. G 2010/9
We invite applications for a postdoctoral position at the
Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin for Materials and Energy GmbH. The
Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin for Materials and Energy is a German National
Laboratory and a member of the Hermann von Helmholtz Association of
National Research Centres (HGF) and has about 1100 employees. It hosts a
user facility with neutron and synchrotron radiation open to scientists
from all over the world. To probe the structure and dynamics of
condensed matter, the user service provides the national and
international research community with state-of-the-art neutron
scattering equipment and expertise at the research reactor BER-II. 30%
of the beam time is reserved for in-house research.
This position is open to post-doctoral candidates who hold a Ph.D.
degree in chemistry, material science, physics, or an engineering
discipline and have a strong research interest in condensed matter
physics, in neutron or X-ray scattering techniques. The ability to carry
out independent research and an innovative outlook on the development of
new instruments and techniques will be counted as strong assets.
The institute Instruments and Methods for Neutron Scattering
successfully operates the Time of Flight (TOF) spectrometer NEAT. An
innovative NEAT upgrade project aims at further enhancing the
instruments capabilities. The successful candidate will participate in
the development of innovative neutron scattering instrumentation and
participate in the research program in the field of nanostructured
materials for energy transport and storages using neutron scattering
techniques.
The appointment is for 3 years.
Applicants should send a letter of application, a detailed CV, a list
of publications and copies of degrees to Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für
Materialien und Energie Berlin, Abt. Personal und Soziales,
Hahn-Meitner-Platz 1, D-14109 Berlin, Germany, quoting reference G
