Registration is now open for the 11th PSI Summer School on Condensed Matter Research!

This year the school's topic will be "Imaging Life and Matter - using photons, neutrons and muons".

The school will take place between August 11-17, 2012 at the Institut Montana, Zug, Switzerland
followed by a hands on training course at the PSI large scale facilities on August 18-20, 2012.

Detailed information and online registration is available on the web: http://www.psi.ch/summerschool

Scope:
The PSI summer school 2012 is dedicated to the fascinating and growing field of imaging experiments
at large scale facilities. International experts and PSI staff members will introduce and deepen
your knowledge about real space imaging from life to materials sciences. Not only methods like tomography,
phase contrast imaging or image processing but also diffractive and spectroscopic imaging and reflectometry
will be covered. Evening lectures will draw the attention to applications of imaging techniques in further high-impact
fields of science like medicine, cultural heritage or paleontology.

Practical training:
Following the school a practical training is offered at PSI. It will allow a limited number of participants
to get hands-on experience with state-of-the-art instrumentation using the photon (SLS), neutron (SINQ)
and muon (SMuS) facilities at PSI.

The school is addressed mainly to the education of PhD and postdoctoral students without prior knowledge of neutron,
X-ray and muon techniques. It is fully open to the national and non-national public and the language of the school is English.

registration deadline: June 30, 2012

Grants:
A limited number of grants will be available to cover accommodation and the fee for both the school
and the practical training for selected PhD students and postdocs. In order to apply for a grant
please send your application electronically to the school secretariat before April 30, 2012.
