SCOPE OF THE MEETING:
At the Science and Scientist meeting in Berlin, you will hear about the progress made in delivering the ESS as well as the scientific and technical challenges that neutron science faces. The meeting aims to facilitate interactions between ESS and the broad scientific community on the scientific programme and instrumentation that ESS and its partners will build for Europe.
The community involvement ensures identifying and selecting the instrumentation serving future scientific needs best.
Your participation, as a user of neutron facilities is important in forging the future of Neutron Science in Europe together.

PROGRAMME
The programme of the meeting aims to address the different needs of the European neutron user community.
The main focus is on the scientific and the experimental possibilities the ESS provides. In addition, information concerning the ESS project is given.
(Semi-)parallel topical work groups on experimental possibilities are organized by neutron instrument classes.
Their aim is to harvest the requirements and ideas from the community focusing on the instrument concepts developed and discussed for the ESS. Ideally this input will not only influence the current instrument concepts already under consideration but encourage the user community to engage directly with ESS on new instrument ideas.
The work groups are chaired jointly by ESS scientist and an external convener from European universities and research institutions. Short scientific and instrument presentations are planned. The presentations will be kept comprehensive allowing a broad discussion with the participants. A poster session proceeds the topic work groups.
