Postdoctoral fellow- Condensed Matter Physics/Neutron Scattering
The University of Missouri Research Reactor Center (MURR) has available a Postdoctoral Fellowship for up to 2 years. MURR is the largest neutron source (10 MW) on a US campus and is well-suited for neutron scattering research. It currently operates 4 instruments: a triple-axis spectrometer, a reflectometer, and two powder diffractometers.

Primary responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to participate in existing neutron scattering research projects as well as initiate an active research program of his/her own in Condensed Matter Physics/Materials Science utilizing powder diffraction. He/She is expected to be significantly involved in the upgrade of one of the powder diffractometers (using linear PSD's), implementing new hardware and software.

Qualifications
Candidates are expected to have a PhD in physics, chemistry, or materials science. A strong background in neutron scattering is required, preferably with expertise in powder diffraction and FullProf data analysis. Previous experience with neutron scattering instrumentation, especially familiarity with linear position sensitive detectors (linear PSD's) is considered to be a distinct advantage. Excellent computer skills would be desirable. The evaluation of candidates will be based on scientific qualifications and ability to communicate effectively. Fluency in English is essential.

We can offer
Strong encouragement to pursue independent research of his/her own in Condensed Matter Physics or Materials Science. The position is initially for one year and renewable for an additional year, contingent on satisfactory performance. Salary and benefits will be competitive, commensurate with skills and credentials, including pension, life insurance, and accident insurance.

To apply
Please send a CV with list of publications and professional activities, a statement of research interests and accomplishments, and the names and e-mail addresses of 3 references to Dr. Helmut Kaiser, kaiserh at missouri.edu<mailto:kaiserh at missouri.edu> Applications must be received by March 31, 2016 for full consideration.
