The physics department at Duke University is seeking to make two
postdoctoral research associate appointments in experimental condensed
matter physics in the area of correlated electron systems. Candidates
with experience in x-ray and neutron scattering techniques and material
design/synthesis are particularly encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates are expected to perform sample synthesis/single
crystal growth and characterization measurements at Duke University.
X-ray and neutron scattering experiments will be conducted at the
national and international user facilities. Experiments under extreme
sample environments will be conducted in collaboration with the National
High Magnetic Field Laboratory. These positions are one-year
appointments with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years.
Applicants for both positions should hold a PhD in condensed matter
physics, solid state chemistry, or experimental materials science.
Background in x-ray/neutron scattering techniques, coding programs and
computational modeling of physical systems, sample synthesis and crystal
growth, extreme sample environments: cryogenics, high magnetic field
and/or high pressure setups, is a plus.
Applications should include a CV, list of publications, a statement of
research interests, and three letters of reference. To apply, please
submit material online through AcademicJobsOnline.org [Posting # 8913]:

Review of applications will begin March 20, 2017, however, the positions
will remain open until filled.
Questions regarding this position can be directed to Prof. Sara
Haravifard (haravifard at phy.duke.edu).
