Dear Colleagues,
Please pass the following information to potential students. Thank you.
Established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong in 2009, the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) aims at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong's universities. The Fellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$240,000 (approximately US$30,000) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year to each awardee for a period of up to three years. More than 230 PhD Fellowships will be awarded in the 2018/19 academic year*. For awardees who need more than three years to complete their PhD studies, additional support may be provided by the chosen universities or the research supervisors.
The Department of Physics at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has an excellent tradition in obtaining HKPFS. Each year, as many as seven students joined the department as Hong Kong PhD Fellows. Further information about CityU and HKPFS can be found in the attached poster, http://www.cityu.edu.hk/cse/fellowship/HKPFS_Poster_e-version.pdf
Outstanding students are sought to pursue neutron and synchrotron studies of structure and dynamics of advanced materials. Current research topics include metallic glasses, high entropy alloys, and magnetic shape memory alloys. Admitted students are based in Hong Kong, but will have ample opportunities to travel to world-class facilities for experiments and training. With regards,
Xun-Li
