[Neutron] Invitation to join the next conference on Compact Neutron Sources UCANS8 in Paris 8-11 july 2019

Dear colleagues

On behalf of the International Committee of the Union of the Compact Accelerator based Neutron Sources (U-CANS), it is my pleasure to announce the next meeting UCANS8 that will be held in Paris 8-11th of July 2019.

As you might know there is currently a strong interest in CANS as a possible new type of source for neutron scattering experiments.

The goal here is to inform the scientific community about the current status of these techniques, to share expertise and address questions of common interest for a wide variety of use of neutron scattering, involving  engineers, technicians, students or scientists interested in developing these methods for academic or industrial research.

We propose a workshop focusing on three major aspects of CANS :

-     Accelerators (Accelerator and beam optics)

-    Target/Moderator (Target, Moderator neutronics, Nuclear data, Computer simulations, Material characterization)

-     Instruments/Scientific applications (Innovative instrumentation, Optical devices, Neutron detection, Medical Applications)

and general discussions on actions that could be promoted together.



The Flyer of the workshop is attached; the aim is to keep time for presentations and discussions, from Monday morning the 8th of july to Wednesday the 10th afternoon , and a visit of the neutron center at Saclay (accelerator IPHI, LLB) is proposed.

March 1st     Abstract submission opening
April 1st        Abstract submission deadline
April 30th      Notification of acceptance
May 1st          Registration opening
June 1st        End of early bird registrations
July 8th-10th  Conference in Paris
July 11th        Visit Saclay


The conferences fees of 300 euros including lunch, coffee breaks, social dinner and conference proceedings.
