Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the First Edition of the Bilbao Neutron School BNS 2019:

“Science and Instrumentation for Compact Accelerator-driven Neutron Sources (CANS)”

taking place from June 17th to 19th 2019 at the Leioa Campus, University of the Basque Country, BC Materials, main offices, Martina Casiano building.

The school is a 3 days event organized jointly by ESS Bilbao and BCMaterials, that will covers lectures, tutorials and round tables for industry and scientific users. In addition, there will be a visit to ESS Bilbao facility and also a neutron beam-time proposal writing exercise.

The tentative program for the three days includes the following topics:
-           Introduction to neutron scattering
-           Neutron sources including CANS
-           Accelerators
-           Targets and Moderators
-           Instrumentation: neutron guides, choppers, detectors and sample environment
-           Instrument suite: Diffraction, SANS and reflectometers, Spectroscopy
