Dear colleagues,
we are happy to announce the opening of a cross-border PhD position in
experimental condensed matter physics with a focus on quantum magnetism in
natural minerals. The project is situated in the study program "Physics of
Nanostructures and Nanomaterials" of Charles University in Prague, Czech
Republic, and will include a one year stay at the Technical University of
Munich in Garching, Germany.
We are looking for motivated candidates with an interest in spin wave
dynamics and spin fluctuations, instrument development, artificial
intelligence and a possible background in inelastic neutron scattering
techniques, such as three axis, time-of-flight, or spin-echo spectroscopy.
Possible directions for the PhD project include the development of the novel
sample co-alignment robot ALSA for inelastic neutron scattering and the
investigation of possible candidates for quantum spin liquids within the
family of natural minerals.
Full funding is available to candidates from all over the world. The
deadline for the applications is 4th March.
For further information visit: https://mambaproject.cz/phd or directly email
Petr Čermák (Prague, cermak at mag.mff.cuni.cz) or Johanna K. Jochum (Garching,
jjochum at frm2.tum.de).
We are looking forward to your application,
Petr and Johanna
