I would like to bring to the attention of the neutron scattering community that the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Missouri has a faculty search for a named assistant professor in applied physics - the ad is attached, and it also appears in Physics Today<https://jobs.physicstoday.org/job/41918380/donald-l-and-lona-lewis-packwood-assistant-professor-of-applied-physics/?LinkSource=PremiumListing> and the department web site<https://physics.missouri.edu/news/donald-l-and-lona-lewis-packwood-assistant-professor-applied-physics-0>. Applicants with an interest in neutron scattering are welcome to apply.
The Department has a long history of engaging in research with neutrons, motivated by the presence of the 10 MW University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR<https://www.murr.missouri.edu/>). Currently there are three outstanding instruments: a triple axis, a polarized beam reflectometer, and a high-resolution powder diffractometer. There are plans to expand the neutron scattering capabilities. The university is also planning to build a new 20 MW research reactor, NextGen MURR<https://nextgenmurr.missouri.edu/media-coverage/>. Although the new reactor is motivated by MURR's success in producing critical medical isotopes, the campus is keenly interested in developing a nationally significant guide hall for neutron scattering as part of the NextGen MURR project.
